Eric Weissmann I felt both old and weird reading it, as most of the languages (aside from C# and Java) I know failed to make the list. I also started playing with programming as a young kid in 1972, using FORTH. I used some BASIC in high school, but in university I used Smalltalk and Objective-C. After being hopelessly annoyed in some of my first jobs by C and C++ I learned RPG-IV and then translated those skills to Lotus Notes and LotusScript. Eventually I made my way out of that by switching to Java, first within Notes then without it. I’ve done C# when convenient but it’s basically an annoying Java. I still use Smalltalk when Java doesn’t work, because generally if Java doesn’t work, neither does Python, .NET, etc. …
