And there’s the pragmatic side. Right now I have two projects going in Java. For one of them, two instance of Eclipse (on two relatively powerful machines) have been processing while hiding behind a modal dialog for 322 and 459 hours, respectively. A third instance, performing some tasks for the other project, has been doing so, also hiding behind a modal dialog, for 912 hours. Most of that time is being spent processing the millions of events the system itself produces.
In the meantime, I need to get work done.
